Adhesive spray    

Spray adhesive is the best way to paste acoustic foam panels on smooth surfaces. Wallpapers won’t be able to hold the foam panels. Many people use adhesive spray onto cardboard or thin wood to ascend the board and not apply adhesive spray on the wall or ceiling directly. 

Applying directly will ruin the wall or ceilings. First, spot the parts of the walls, ceilings, or the surface you want to cover with masking tape or a pencil. The surface should be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol. If you skip this process, the adhesive spray may not hold securely. After that, wipe the washed surface dry with a paper towel or dry cloth. 70°C is the adequate temperature for the adhesive.

The room temperature should be around 70°C before applying the adhesive spray. Stand by at least 10 seconds for the bond to adjust. Set the acoustic foam and firmly press it for 30 seconds.

Adhesive squares

Adhesive squares are as powerful as spray and create less of a mess. But it takes more time than the spray adhesive takes. At first, take a marker to spot the area at the wall, ceiling, or other desired surfaces you want to cover with an acoustic foam panel. 

The surfaces should be washed with isopropyl alcohol and wiped the cleaned surface with a wipe. This square has two paper livers on its front and back.

Pull out the paper liner off one side of the square and paste the disclosed side to the back of the acoustic foam panel. Paste the adhesive square to every corner on the back of the panel and through its outside edges. 

Use two adhesive squares for a 1-inch panel. Remove the other paper liver at the adhesive square. Grasp the acoustic foam panels and place them on the spot you have spotted for hanging. Firmly press on it for around 30 seconds. Cover all the desired surfaces. Adhesive spray or adhesive square can damage the walls or ceilings, especially if the room or the studio is a rental. 

Without damaging walls, the best option is 3M Command strips. These strips peel off using a single thick cardboard or plywood board with adhesive to install acoustic foam without damaging walls.
